Things to know

Recycling & trash drop-off: at the town shed the 9-12 AM, 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. $3 donation suggested for recycling, trash $3-$4 per bag.

Dogs: must be under owner control at all times; must be licensed, annual deadline April 1, contact the town clerk. Chris Smith (388-0337) is the animal control officer. He will pick up stray dogs. Complaints about dogs go to the selectboard.

Permits: are required for burning if there is no snow cover; construction, change of use, subdivision, etc. 

Roads: Ron Wimett (388-7346) is the road commissioner. Contact him or selectboard members Laurie Cox (388-7820) or Perry Hanson (388-9917) about road issues. 

Schools: Ripton Elementary School, public pre-k to 6; North Branch School, private 7 to 9; Ripton is part of the Addison Central Supervisory District (ACSD), public school 7-12 graders attend the ACSD schools in Middlebury
